Effects of Pore Structures on Electrochemical Behaviors of Activated Carbons Nanofibers by a Steam Activation Method |

In this study, activated carbons nanofibers (ACNFs) were prepared for supercapacitor electrode applications by using polyacrylonitrile under steam activation conditions. The surface morphologies and structural characteristics of activated carbons were observed by SEM and XRD, respectively. The N2 adsorption isotherm characteristics at 77K were confirmed by BET and DR equations. From the results, specific surface areas and total pore volume of the porous carbon were determined as 990~1810 m2/g and 0.44~0.88 cm3/g, respectively. It was also observed that various pore size distributions were found to be depended on the functions of activation time and temperature. The ACNFs were applied as an electrode for EDLCs and analyzed in relation to the activation conditions. |
