원료 Styrene; Acrylonitrile
생산물 styrene-acrylonitrile
적용 To produce Styrene-Acrylonitrile (SAN) resin from styrene and acrylonitrile by continuous solution copolymerization.
설명 Description: Styrene and acrylonitrile are fed to the reactor (1) together with solvent. In the reactor the polymerization takes place. When a desired conversion is attained, the reaction mixture is fed to a vent extruder (2). The product SAN resin is extruded, cooled and cut, thus turning pellets (3).
In the extruder, the unreacted monomers and the solvent are removed and recovered. The recovered monomers and solvent are cooled and liquefied (4). After repurification (5) the recovered monomers and solvent are reused for the polymerization.
JSR SAN Process is the latest process in the world. Since the process employs the solution polymerization, it features the following:

ㆍ High quality product is yieled at lower cost.
ㆍ Owing to the lower viscosity of the reaction mixture, it is easy to control the reaction.
ㆍ It is possible to produce diversified grades with the various properties giving a wide coverage.
   ㆍ Productivity is high.
ㆍ Plant composition, especially the downstream after polymerization, is simple.
ㆍ Monomer loss is minimal and the yield is high.
ㆍ Wastewater, as well as waste gas, is minimal. The whole process is nearly a closed system.

JSR SAN excels in mechanical properties, chemical resistance, oil resistance, etc., and it has a wide range of applications, such as sundries, parts for electric appliances, stationery and automotive parts. Additionally, JSR SAN is suitable for compounding with ABS resin.
