Ketones
원료 | Secondary alcohol |
생산물 | ketones |
적용 | To produce acetone and/or methyl ethyl ketones (MEK) by dehydrogenation of the corresponding anhydrous isopropyl alcohol or secondary butyl alcohol. |
설명 | Description: The dehydrogenation reaction (2) is conducted at low temperature (around 150℃). An inert solvent of high boiling point is used permitting the reaction to proceed at atmospheric temperature. The catalyst is kept in suspension by suitable stirring. The produced ketone leaves the reactor as vapor effluent together with the unconverted alcohol and hydrogen gas formed in the reaction. Unconverted alcohol is recycled from the bottom of the primary distillation tower (3) toward the reactor. The ketone is further purified (4) from excess alcohol in a following purification tower. To avoid ketone losses in produced hydrogen gas, the vapor distillate of the primary tower is deep cooled, compressed and finally contacted with the alcohol feed in an absorber. Yields: High purity (99.5% +), high stability ketone and pure hydrogen. Operating conditions: Use of active catalyst kept in suspension in a fluidized isothermal reactor; reaction carried out at low temperature and pressure enabling a very high selectivity (molar yield over 99%); trouble-free operation demonstrated over years; long catalyst life; and flexibility enabling alternative production of acetone or MEK in the same unit. |
