Preparation of Polymeric Nanoparticles from a Poly(ethylene glycol)-Poly(phenylalanine)-Poly(D,L-lactic acid) Triblock Copolymer |

Biodegradable polymeric nanoparticles have been extensively studied as a drug delivery system for several decades. In this study, a poly(ethylene glycol)-poly(phenylalanine)-poly(D,L-lactic acid) triblock copolymer was synthesized. Nanoparticles were prepared by a surfactant-free emulsion-solvent evaporation method from the tri-block copolymer. The poly(phenylalanine)-poly(D,L-lactic acid) blocks formed a hydrophobic core of the nanoparticle, while the poly(ethylene glycol) chains created a hydrophilic corona. The poly(phenylalanine) blocks were expected to form an interface layer and stabilize the nanoparticle via hydrogen bonding between the amide groups and π-πinteraction between the phenyl groups. The release behavior of 1-aminopyrene was investigated. |
