Chemical fixation of carbon dioxide has received much attention both from economical and environmental point of view. In this work, the exploitation of double metal cyanide (DMC) catalyst, which is widely employed for epoxide polymerization to yield polyether polyols, have been used to prepare the copolymers of CO2 with cyclohexene oxide (CHO) and vinyl cyclohexene oxide (VCHO). A series of alkoxy alcohols used as complexing agent for DMC catalyst, such as 1-butoxypropan-2-ol (DMC/BP), 2-butoxyethanol (DMC/BE), 1-propoxypropan-2-ol (DMC/PP), 2-propoxy ethanol (DMC/PE), 1-ethoxypropan-2-ol (DMC/EP), 2-ethtoxyethanol (DMC/EP), 1-methoxypropan-2-ol (DMC/MP), 2-methoxyethanol (DMC/ME), and tert-butyl alcohol (DMC/tBuOH). The resulted copolymers obtained from the action of these catalysts are analysed by 1H NMR spectroscopy, infrared spectroscopy and gel permeation chromatography. |
