Poly(L-lactic acid) (PLLA), that contained MWNTs, were electrospun to yield nanofibrous membranes. To improve the compatibility between MWNTs and the PLLA matrix, PLLA was grafted by ring-opening polymerization of L-lactic acid on the surface of MWNT. Then, MWNT-g-PLLA was blended with PLLA, and the mixture was electrospun on the silicon wafer. The nanofibrous membranes of the MWNT embedded PLLA were clacined to result in the MWNTs on the wafer. The structure of as-spun fiber and the remaining MWNTs on the wafer were observed by SEM. The resulting MWNTs after the calcination were aligned along the fiber-axis. Continuous MWNT arrays were obtained by controlling the concentration of MWNTs during the electrospinning process. |
