Piezoelectric material BaTiO3-coated SnO2 microsphere composite for improving electrochemical performance of Li-ion battery anode |

BaTiO3-coated SnO2 microsphere composite (SnO2@BTO) was synthesized via a solvothermal reaction with barium titanate (BTO) coating process. Piezoelectric materials such as BTO can produce a local piezoelectric field under a mechanical stress resulting from the volume expansion of a SnO2 electrode. The local piezoelectric field may help enhance the Lithium ion (Li+) mobility, which improves the electrochemical performance. The diffusion coefficient of the Li+ of the SnO2@BTO composite electrode showed higher than that of SnO2 microsphere electrode. Because of the advantages of the piezoelectric material used in the battery system, the SnO2@BTO composite exhibited a good rate performance and good cycling stability. |
