제목 A Study on the Properties of Polymer Blends from Cyclic Olefin Copolymer (COC)  with Poly Lactic Acid (PLA)
초록 The study was conducted to enhance the thermal and water barrier properties of the biodegradable poly(lactic acid) (PLA) and cyclic olefin copolymer (COC) immiscible blend without a compatibilizer. COC/PLA blends were compared by calculating their activation energy for thermal stability. The mechanical behaviors of the COC/PLA blends showed negative deviation from the rule of the mixtures relationship when the PLA or COC was a dispersed phase. The COC-rich blends had smaller dispersed particle sizes compared to the PLA-rich blends. This could be explained based on the higher melt viscosity of COC compared to PLA determined via rheological investigation. From these results, it was confirmed that the water vapor transmission rates (WVTRs) of the COC/PLA blends could be decreased by increasing the COC contents.
