A novel approach tosynthesize highly luminescent graphene quantum dots (GQDs) with well-definedsizes was explored based on simple oxidation of herringbone-type carbonnanofibers (HCNFs) and size-selective precipitation. Furthermore, the PL fromthese GQDs was tailored by varying the oxidation temperature, which effectivelyproduced GQDs of varying sizes. Additionally, the upconversion property of GQDwas determined, and the response mechanism of the upconversionGQD-layer-modified working electrode and the performance of the upconversionGQD-layer-modified dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC) were investigated. The synthesizedGQDs exhibited excellent upconversion properties, and proved to be a feasiblecandidate for a phosphor in photovoltaic devices to enhance thelight-harvesting ability in the long-wavelength range. |
