제목 PEG-grafted Random Copolymer Coatings for Marine Biofouling Resistance
초록 Random copolymers consisting of hydrophilic 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (2-HEMA), poly(ethylene glycol) methacrylate (PEGMA), and zwitterion are already known for biofouling resistance in buffered aqueous solutions. Random copolymers were synthesized with varying ratio of poly(styrene-poly(ethylene glycol) methacrylate) PS-PEGMA, poly(styrene-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) PS-HEMA, and poly(styrene-poly(ethylene glycol) methacrylate-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) PS-PEGMA-HEMA. We also synthesized zwitterionic polymers to compare non-ionic hydrophilic polymers. Synthesis of random copolymers was investigated by 1H-NMR and gel permeation chromatography (GPC). Protein adsorption experiments were carried out with fluorescein isothiocyanate-labeled bovine serum albumin (BSA-FITC). Experimental results suggest that the silicon wafers coated with random copolymers indicate good anti-biofouling effects.
