Herein, we designed a bubble-generating carrier for controlled drug release using photothermal effect. Perfluorocarbon was loaded into poly(lactic acid) (PLA) nanoparticles containing methotrexate (MTX) and melanin. When exposed to a 808 nm near-infrared (NIR) laser at 1.5 W/cm2, the temperature of the PLA nanoparticle solution rose by 43.9 °C and a bubble was generated. The amount of MTX released from the PLA nanoparticles in PBS solution was 81.99% of total amount after the NIR laser irradiation. In contrast, non-NIR laser irradiation group, 67.30% of total amount was released. Thus, this strategy of PLA nanoparticles using the NIR laser can control the drug release and are expected to be used a contrast agent for ultasounic diagnosis. |
