Attracting increasing interest in practical applications and synthetic challenges, metal nanoparticles have unique features such as surface plasmon absorption and high catalytic activity due to their quantum size confinements and extremely large surface area. Especially, when Pt nanoparticles are incorporated with carbon, which is conductor as well as large surface area supporter, it can be used for various applications; for example, carbon-supported Pt nanoparticles were prepared and tested as a catalyst for fuel cells. In this study, carbon nanorods covered with high platinum nanoparticles concentration were obtained by the Pt-catalyzed pyrolysis of nanofibrillar cellulose diacetate aerogel. |
