ZrKClO4 (Zirconium potassium perchlorate) is energetic material well used as propellants in aerospace department also known as NASA Standard Initiator (NSI) due to high energy density. If we put ZrKClO4 in closed chamber and ignite, oxygen atoms which bonded with KClO4 obtain activation energy. And then oxygen atoms begin to bond with Zr and form ZrO2. Because this reaction is oxidation-reduction and exothermic reaction, heat generated from the reaction activates another oxygen atom. Because this phenomenon could be occurred under anaerobic conditions, it is applying to energy release of spacecraft and rocket needed to propel under anaerobic conditions. Due to growing interest in domestic aerospace industry, it is necessary to evaluate energy release model in order to apply to various research such as energy release performance evaluation to apply energetic material aging study, etc. Thermodynamic characteristics such as enthalpy of aging energetic materials are changed according to its aging time. So this study analyses mathematical energy release performance of ZrKClO4 according to thermodynamic characteristics to evaluate energetic material aging study. |
