In this research, ethylenediamine-modified β-cyclodextrin was immobilized on the silver nanoparticle-embedded silica nanoparticle (SiO2@Ag@Et-β-CD) were synthesized for the detection of flavonoids. In this material structure, SiO2@Ag was used as a template to generate surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) signal and Et-β-CD was used as a ligand for selective binding flavonoids because of its high affinity. SiO2@Ag@Et-β-CD was used to detect flavonoids such as hesperetin, naringenin, quercetin, and luteolin by SERS measurement. Each flavonoid showed its discriminated characteristic of SERS spectrum. In particular, luteolin showed strong SERS peaks in the linear range 10−7 to 10−3 M than other flavonoids. In addition, the SERS signal of the SiO2@Ag@Et-β-CD captured luteolin was sustained even after repeated washing. These results show the possibility of Et-β-CD-modified SiO2@Ag could be utilized as a rapid and sensitive sensor for flavonoids. |
