제목 Tendency of Aspect Ratio in Anisotropic Particles according to Flory-Huggins Interaction Parameter (χ): How Long AR Can Be?
초록 Generation of anisotropic block copolymer (BCP) particles simply by solvent evaporation from emulsion droplet have received great attention. Interestingly, degree of shape-anisotropy was revealed to be dependent on molecular weight of BCP and particle size, providing a platform for precise control of particle aspect ratio (AR). However, less attention was paid on tuning Flory-Huggins interaction parameter (χ) to systematically control particle AR. Herein, we study effect of χ parameter on AR by introducing three different BCPs with varying χ values. Polystyrene-b-polybutadiene (PS-b-PB), polystyrene-b-polydimethylsiloxane (PS-b-PDMS), and polystyrene-b-poly4-vinylpyridine (PS-b-P4VP) with similar degree of polymerization (N) were prepared for accurate comparison. Greater AR was observed for BCP particles prepared from higher χ. Such tendency implies that further design of high χ BCPs will enable generation of highly-anisotropic BCP particles.
