제목 Synthesis and characterization of SIS triblock copolymer using novel coupling agent by living anionic polymerization
초록 Triblock copolymers with an elastomeric center block and glassy end blocks exhibit the properties of thermoplastic elastomers. Synthesis of SI diblock followed by coupling reaction is an industrially acceptable method, which utilizes a readily available cost-effective coupling reagent and gives 5-8% uncoupled diblock copolymer. We synthesized polystyrene-b-polyisoprene at ambient temperature by living anionic polymerization, which was followed by coupling of living macroanions with malonyl chloride. This coupling reaction simultaneously forms well controlled diblock, triblock, and star block copolymers. The block copolymers were characterized by, 1H NMR, FT-IR, TGA and DSC. The molecular weight and polydispersity of the synthesized polymer was determined by size exclusion chromatography (SEC). The molecular weight distribution (MWD) of individual fraction of block copolymer was in the range of 1.02~1.15, which proved the formation of the well controlled copolymers.
