In recent days, the interest of polymer/graphene nanocomposite material has increased because of the good properties of graphene as filler. Graphene Oxide (GO) is generally synthesized via chemical oxidation of graphite. Polynorbornenes such as N-phenyl-exo-norbornene-5,6-dicarboximide present excellent optical transparency, good thermal stability, and good mechanical flexibility. In this study, we synthesized polynorbornene dicarboximide (PND)/GO hybrid films. GO was synthesized by chemical oxidation of graphite using the Hummer’s method. The GO was modified by ring-opening reaction between the epoxy groups on the GO sheets and the aliphatic amine of 4-aninobenzylamine. After 24 hours’ reaction, amine functionalized graphene (AFG) powder was produced. AFG sheets are dispersed with the random 3D directions and the molecular level, and this graphene sheets in the PND matrix improved the Young’s modulus of the nanocomposite films and O2 permeability. |
