제목 The effect of introduced fluorine onto cokes surface on wettability with binder pitch for carbon block with high density
초록 A carbon block is a precursor for manufacturing the artificial graphite. To manufacture the artificial graphite with well-structure and high strength, carbon block prepared with cokes and binder pitch has to have high density. In this study, in order to increase density of the carbon block, the cokes was fluorinated and it was molding-compressed with binder pitch. The fluorinated cokes are confirmed that fluorine element was introduced on the cokes surface up to 24 at.% using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The wettability between fluorinated cokes and binder pitch was evaluated according to the reaction temperature in the muffle furnace using camera. The wettability between prepared cokes and binder pitch was improved up to 65% from the result of contact-angle test. Also, the density of the carbon block prepared the cokes introduced the highest amount of fluorine was increased as 7% compared to that of the carbon block prepared by the pristine cokes.
