The main advantage of using compatibilizers in the immiscible polymer blends is the suppression of coalescence achieved through stabilizing the interface, not a reduction in the interfacial tension. For the interfacial enrichment a physical compatibilizer in the immisible polymer blends, the compatibilizer has to have a well-balanced structure (wet-brush). Recently, to improve compatibilizing effect in the immiscible polymer blends, it has been directed towards in-situ compatibilization by reactive processing. Until recently, the molecular architecture of the reactive compatibilizer is under the control of sorts of functional groups and concentration of functionality. The polymer/clay nanocomposites have unique physical properties (high stiffness, high modulus, heat resistant) and long-range ordering structure due to the interaction of silicate layers and matrix polymer. In this study, using maleic anhydride functionalized PP/organic liphophilic silicate (OLS) nanocomposites with exfoliation structure as a reactive compatibilizer, we present novel investigation of thermal, morphological, rheological and mechanical characteristics on the immiscible PP/Nylon 6 blends. |
