제목 | High level production of poly(3-hydroxybutyrate) with high molecular weight by fed-batch culture of recombinant Escherichia coli |
초록 | Poly(3-hydroxybutyrate)[P(3HB)] is synthesized in numerous bacteria [1]. However, P(3HB) has poor properties, which are not suitable for commercial application [2]. Recently, P(3HB) having ultra-high-molecular-weight (UHMW) around 20 MDa was obtained by recombinant Escherichia coli harboring P(3HB) biosynthesis genes and was reported to have improved mechanical properties compared with typical P(3HB) [3]. In this study, we developed the fermentation strategy for the high level production of UHMW P(3HB). Recombinant Escherichia coli harboring the Alcaligenes latus P(3HB) biosynthesis genes was examined for the production of UHMW P(3HB).
