제목 Novel Dinuclear Ru-Based Catalysts for Ring Opening Metathesis Polymerization (ROMP) of Polar Norbornene Derivatives
초록 High transparent polymers from ring opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) of norbornene derivatives were widely used in optical applications because of their high thermal stability and high clarity. Especially, this excellent properties can be able to use in a suitable core material in the area of plastic optical fiber (POF) for automobile. As the transition metal catalyst for ROMP1,2 has a lower tolerance exposed at moisture and oxygen, many researchers have devoted to develop more stable and more active catalyst for metathesis during the past decade.3
Novel dinuclear Ru-based complexes (DK, 2) have been prepared by simple treatment of Grubbs' catalyst [RuCl2(=CHPh)(PCy3)2, 1] with ligands having two Schiff base groups. These air- and water-tolerant dinuclear complexes (DK) were shown to exhibit an increased ROMP activity at elevated temperature and at the polar solvent system compared to that of the parent complex (1). Also, DK catalyst has a much higher activity in the polymerization of polar norbornene (3) containing ester group than other ROMP catalysts.
