Well-defined diblock copolymers consisting of a hydrophilic polyethylene oxide (PEO) and a hydrophobic poly(1H,1H-dihydroperfluorooctyl methacrylate) (PDHFOMA) block were synthesized with controlled molecular weight via ATRP. Self-assembling diblock copolymer poly(DHFOMA10k-b-EO20k) in the different solvent(CHCl3, CFCl3, DMF and MeOH) yielded various morphologies, such as spheres, cauliflower and rod-like aggregates. It is found that when diblock copolymers are dissolved in a solvent which is selective for one of the blocks, colloidal size aggregates or micelles can form as a result of the association of the insoluble blocks. |
