Liquid drops show low roll-off angle (< 10o) and contact angle hysteresis (< 10o) with fast three-phase contact line movement when they slide on liquid repellent surfaces, such as superhydrophobic and superamphiphobic surfaces. Here, we introduce a strategy to fabricate mesoporous supraparticles by drying colloidal dispersion on various liquid repellent surfaces. On superamphiphobic surfaces, the strong liquid repellency allows the spherical shape of colloidal dispersion drop and the contact line movement during evaporation. Therefore drops can keep the spherical shape during evaporation and form mesoporous particles from drops of colloidal dispersion after solvent evaporation. This is environmental friendly process since over the whole particle fabrication process. In addition, mesoporous particles with various sizes, materials, and structures were produced by only simple parameter alternation, the drop volume, and concentration and types of colloids. |
