제목 Aspect Ratio-Controlled Synthesis of Uniform Colloidal Ellipsoids of Block-Copolymers from Evaporative Emulsions
초록 Block copolymers (BCPs) confined in evaporative emulsions can be assembled into ellipsoidal particles when solvent evaporation is faster than polymer diffusion as reported in our previous article (ACS Nano 2017, 11, 2133–2142). Here, we have precisely controlled the aspect ratio (AR) of monodisperse, ellipsoidal polystyrene-block-1,4-polybutadiene (PS-b-PB) BCP particles using membrane emulsification to control particle size ranging from 0.1 to 5 μm. We found that the relative ratio of the propagation distance of perpendicular ordering of the BCPs to the particle size is a critical parameter to form ellipsoid shape. Furthermore, we showed that AR value in colloidal ellipsoids of BCPs can be precisely controlled by varying the particle size and the molecular weight of BCPs, which are predicted by theoretical calculation. Finally, using AR-controlled monodisperse ellipsoids, we have systematically investigated how AR can affect the colloidal structures in drop-cast film.
