Fabrication and characterization of P3HT:PCBM based bulk heterojunction photoelectric cell |

Organic bulk heterojunction photoelectric cell based on a blended film of poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) and a fullerene derivative [6,6]-phenyl-C61 butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM) was fabricated. The poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) polystyrene sulfonate (PEDOT: PSS) as a hole transport layer and active layer of P3HT: PCBM were spin coated on indium–tin-oxide (ITO) coated glass substrate respectively. Device architecture was the following: ITO/PEDOT: PSS/P3HT: PCBM/Al. The morphology of the organic semiconductor film was investigated by atomic force microscope (AFM). The optical properties of the P3HT: PCBM film was studied by UV-visible spectroscopy. Current–Voltage characteristics were measured under dark condition as well as under illumination of 1 sun standard AM1.5G. The device showed the best value of open circuit voltage (Voc), short circuit current (Isc), fill factor (FF) and efficiency were equal to 2.54 V, 13.6 mA/cm2, 0.58 and 4.05 %, respectively. |
