Liquid-crystalline epoxy resins (LCERs) with rigid-rod mesogenic units in their backbone themselves can align mesogen components in one direction is believed to be responsible for high thermal conductivity (T/C) and the more ordered structure, the higher T/C. Here, a series of monomers containing rigid core mesogen with azomethine structure of different chain extenders bearing ester group were synthesized. Their spectroscopic structure, thermal properties, and phase structures were investigated with NMR, MS, DSC, and POM, respectively. The liquid crystalline properties of LCERs and the epoxy curing systems with diaminodiphenylmethane (DDM) were examined by using DSC and POM. All the LCERs exhibited typical liquid crystalline behavior with a wide range of temperature on phase transition of nematic phase. In the presentation, the properties of the cured LCERs will be discussed in details. |
