Control of Morphology in Bulk-Heterojunction Solar Cells via pi-pi Interaction |

Herein, we report the miscibility of donor random copolymers with a fullerene acceptor through benzene-fullerene interaction and substantial effects on the morphology and performance of BHJ PSCs. In addition, we demonstrate such the concentration-dependent competitive interaction between benzene-benzene and benzene-fullerene. Therefore, the optimal ratio of 10:90 between M2 (10 mol%) and M3 (90 mol%) units in RP1 copolymer resulted in selective interactions with PC70BM due to the dominance of the benzene–PC70BM interactions over the benzene–benzene interactions. As a consequence, the dominant benzene–PC70BM interactions promoted the formation of nanoscale morphology in the RP1:PC70BM film. The BHJ device prepared using RP1 exhibited a PCE of 4.9%. |
