Synthesis and Characterization of New Structured Polyimides from Diamines containing 1,4-Bis(3-ethynylaniline) Group |

Polyimides are a family of heterocyclic polymers that have received extensive evaluation as high-performance polymers. Recently, acetylene-containing polyimides aroused interest in the field of high-temperature adhesives for their unique properties. In this study, new polyimides having acetylene unit in the main chain are provided. We designed monomer structure and developed synthetic route to dimines having bis(ethynylaniline) moiety and a series of new polyimides was synthesized and examined. Monomeric diamines were prepared by the reaction of aromatic dibromide compounds and ethynylaniline in Et3N/DMAc under triphenylphosphine(TPP), Pd(PPh3)Cl2 and CuI(I) as catalyst. In each step, all the intermediates were separated, purified and identified by spectroscopic means. Polyimidization with various dianhydrides was carried out in NMP by two-step method. FT-IR spectrum showed two characteristic peaks at 1770 and 1710 cm-1 due to the imide linkage, and no additional peaks from amide or monomers were observed, which means that the resulting polyimides were fully imidized. And also, structures, thermal and solution properties were investigated.
