Cadmium is a semiconductor and cadmium nanoparticles exhibit unique properties having potential of various applications. So the synthesis of cadmium nanoparticles has attracted much interest. Poly(styrene-block-2-vinylpyridine)(PS2VP) and cadmium ion were used to form the micelles. PS2VP was used as an effective stabilizer. Single micelles were formed by solubility differences for toluene between styrene unit and 2-vinylpyridine unit. In addition, dibromobutane was introduced to form crosslinking structure at core. To achieve complete control of the properties of nanoparticles, it is necessary to prepare monodispersed particles with respect to size, shape, and internal structure. The growth of nanoparticles was controlled by introduction of hydrogen sulfide gas into polymer solution. The prepared nanoparticles were characterized by UV-visible spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy. |
