The CO2 capture and utilization (CCU) concept has received a lot of attention from many researchers because it can overcome disadvantages of CO2 capture, storage and sequestration (CCS) in terms of technologies, health, and economics. Among various CCU methods, CO2 methanation, as known as Sabatier process, was proposed to reduce CO2 emission obtained from various industrial sectors and produce synthetic natural gas (SNG) which substitutes for fossil fuels. In this study, we carried out comparative studies for a conventional packed-bed reactor and a membrane reactor fitted water permeable membranes on the effect of operating temperature using a commercial simulation tool, Aspen HYSYS®. Furthermore, economic analysis was performed to assess economic feasibility through a unit SNG production cost and sensitivity analysis (SA) based on simulation results. |
