Electrospun Zn(OH)2 nanowire-decorated PAN: A versatile adsorbent for batch decontamination of Cationic and Anionic dyes |

Electrospun nanofibers have proven to be effective adsorbents for removing pollutants from wastewater. Organic dyes are among the toxic water contaminants that cause various physiological complications. Therefore, their concentration in wastewater should be monitored. In this study, Electrospun Zn(OH)2 nanowire-decorated PAN nanofiber was prepared and used to adsorb cationic and anionic dyes. A batch adsorption experiment was used to evaluate the nanofiber's performance. It showed excellent adsorbent properties for both cationic and anionic dyes, with removal efficiency of more than 81% for dyes like Methylene Blue, Rhodamine Blue, Congo Red and Methyl Blue. |
