Epoxy resin has outstanding heat and chemical resistance, mechanical properties and adhesion, so it can be widely used as an important material for structural adhesives, paints, and fiber-reinforced composites. However, since the epoxy resin was brittle, to improve the toughness of the epoxy resin, core/shell nanoparticles, high-performance thermoplastic polymer are being used as additives for epoxy resins. Comely toughening agents cause phase separation in epoxy matrix. In this study, an epoxy resin modified with an acid anhydride as a toughening agent was synthesized. As a result, the mechanical property such as impact strength and flexural strength were improved, and ho phase separation occurred in epoxy matrix. |
