The hard coatings on the polycarbonate (PC) plate were performed with the object of substitution the glass in the car to the PC plate. In this research, tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS), phenyltrimethoxysilane (PTMS), and [3-(methacryloyloxy)propyl]trimethoxysilane (MPTMS) were used to prepare the coatings by sol-gel process. The optimum conditions and the formulation to get the excellent physical properties were determined. The mole ratio of TEOS, PTMS, and MPTMS, selection of the solvent, the aging time, the amount of acid catalyst, and polymerization condition were characterized. The smooth coating which got 1H-2H class at pencil hardness was formed in this research by sol-gel process. |
