제목 Synthesis and preparion of supramolecular liquid crystals using stilbazole moieties and tartric acid
초록 Supramolecular liquid crystals consist of mesogenic unit which can aggregate into discs that will make up columns. Hydrogen bonding, which has been used for assembling molecules and building organized molecular structures, is one of the powerful tools for preparation of liquid crsytals. Recently, these thermotropic liquid crystals have been studied because of their possible application to one-dimensional electronic conductor, photoconductors, organic photovoltaic, and organic light emitting diodes. The objective of this study is to design complexes that show the thermotropic columnar behavior using hydrogen bonding between two different molecules. Tartaric acid were used as the core molecule for hydrogen donor, and 3, 4, 5-trialkoxybenzoate-trans-stilbazoles is used as the peripheral units for hydrogen acceptor. Their mesogenic properties are analyzed through 1H NMR, FT-IR Spectroscopy. polarized light microscope, X-ray diffraction, and DSC.
