Synthesis and characterization of alginate/chitosan particles containing lactobacillus |

The alginate-chitosan particles were prepared in order to deliver lactobacillus to the large intestine efficiently. Scanning electron microscope was used for measuring both size and surface morphology of the alginate-chitosan particles. Calcium ions were introduced to crosslink the particles containing alginate physically. pH-dependent dissolution of alginate and releasing of lactobacillus were investigated at several different buffer solutions. Maintaining the activity of lactobacillus in alginate-chitosan particles was confirmed by chroma meter. The majority of lactobacillus could be delivered intact to the large intestine by using the alginate-chitosan particles. |
