Coil-rod block copolymers have been received a lot of intention as nano materials due to their unique architectures. Recently, we succeed to synthesize amphiphilic coil-rod block polymers from 2-vinyl pyridine (2VP) and n-hexyl isocyanate (HIC), for examples, AB (P2VP-b-PHIC), ABA (PHIC-b-P2VP-b-PHIC), and BAB (P2VP-b-PHIC-b-P2VP) block copolymers, by living anionic polymerization. The sequential addition of monomers followed by 2VP and HIC resulted in coil-rod AB di- and BAB tri-block copolymers using mono-directional and bi-directional initiators, respectively, with quantitative yields. Herein, we will present for the synthesis of the block copolymer and for the preparation of micelle and hollow spheres from the block copolymers and the apporoach of block copolymers as nanoreactors. |
