제목 | Thermal and rheological properties of HIPS/MMT nanocomposites |
초록 | Polymer/montmorillonite(MMT) nanocomposites consist of layered silicates that exist the intercalated or exfoliated forms in the polymer matrix. Some polymer/MMT nanocomposites which have a small amount of MMT exhibit unprecedented mechanical and thermal properties because of strong synergistic effects between the polymer and silicate layers. In this study, HIPS(high impact polystyrene)/MMT nanocomposites which have various contents of HIPS, MMT and compatibilizer were prepared by melt mixing method using a twin screw extruder. MMT which modified by dimethyl hydrogenated tallow 2-ethylhexyl ammonium was used. Styrenic copolymers with/without maleic anhydride group were used as compatibilizers. The dispersion of MMT in polystyrene matrix was observed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Influence of types of compatibilizer on thermal and rheological properties of HIPS/MMT nanocomposites was investigated by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and rheometric dynamic spectrometer (RDS), respectively. HIPS/MMT nanocomposite which uses SEBS(styrene-ethylene-butylene-styrene) as a compatibilizer reveals good thermal and rheological properties. Figure 1. Scheme of different types of composites arising from the interaction of HIPS, compatibilizer and layered silicates. |
