제목 Polyesterfication between poly(oxyethylene) and adipic acid: Effect of molecular weight of poly(oxyethylene)
초록 We investigate the effect of molecular size of poly(oxyethylene) on the rate and degree of the polymerization between adipic acid and poly(oxyethylene). To make the poly(oxyethylene-co-adipate) product have -OH group at the both ends, two equivalent of poly(oxyethylene) to adipic acid was maintained. Stannous 2-ethylhexanoate catalyst was used at the concentration of 0.016 mol catalyst/one mol adipic acid and at 0.48 wt.% of total reactant mixture. The polyesterification rate was interpreted with the acid value data of the reactant-product mixture. The degree of polymerization was calculated using the acid value and hydroxy value of the produced poly(oxyethylene-co-adipate)diol. In the case of using 0.016 mol stannous 2-ethylhexanoate per an adipic acid mol, the polyesterification rate decreased with increasing molecular length of poly(oxyethylene). At 0.48 wt% the catalyst, the reaction rate also exhibited decreasing tendency with increasing molecular length of poly(oxyethylene).
