Dye-sensitized solar cells present as an alternative source of photo-electrochemical solar cells. The overall cell performance in a DYSC depends upon many factors like nature of electrodes, dye, sensitizer, electrolytes. DYSC based on polymer gels, liquid electrolyte are available in literature. Optimum device efficiencies to date have been obtained by employing a liquid electrolyte. The liquid electrolyte has some disadvantages like leakage, corrosion, evaporation etc. In polymer electrolytes, ionic liquids have been found to play the role of a charge carrier as well as non-volatile plasticizer. The low viscosity and high electrical conductivity of these ionic liquids make them suitable candidates for DYSC. One possible approach is to use these ionic liquids in a suitable polymer matrix and obtain the resulting electrolyte in the film form. Here we report the enhancement in the conductivity of a PEO:KI polymer electrolyte with doping of an Ionic liquid and fabricated a DYSC. |
