For on-site usages of hydrogen fuel via fuel processing technology, various reforming processes with many hydrocarbon sources have been proposed. In terms of the easy-liquefaction property and well-installed infrastructures of LPG, steam reforming of propane (SRP) was more fascinating for the on-site production of hydrogen compared with methane reforming reaction. In the present study, Ni-based SRP catalysts using the metal-modified MgAl2O4@SiC (SiC coated with MgAl2O4) were investigated, where the metal modifiers were cobalt, iron and copper. Among them, cobalt-modified MgAl2O4@SiC support showed a superior activity and stability due to its intimate and strong interactions with nickel crystallites on the Ni/Co-MgAl2O4@SiC. The different metal-support interactions and surface properties were confirmed by TPR, XPS, STEM-EDS and so on. |
