Natural bone tissue possesses a nanocomposite structure interwoven in a three-dimensional matrix, which plays critical roles in conferring appropriate physical and biological properties to the bone tissue. Since single type of material may not be sufficient to mimic the properties of native bones, composite materials consisting of polymers, bioceramics, and other inorganic materials have to be designed. This study focused on the fabrication of porous scaffolds consisting of poly(ε-caprolactone) and functionalized hydroxyapatite particles for biomimetic bone tissue engineering. |
