제목 Flexible liquid crystal display of bilevel microstructures fabricated by soft lithographic technique
초록 For flexible liquid crystal displays (LCDs), the mechanical stability of devices and the uniform alignment of the LC molecules on plastic substrates are critical factors of retaining the long-term performance. Here, we report on a flexible LCD based on an elastomer substrate having bilevel microstructures. The upper arrays of microstructures were directly fabricated on the lower microgrooves of the elastomer substrate, fabricated by a replica molding technique, using micromolding in capillary (MIMIC) technique. The upper arrays provide columnar spacers for the uniform cell gap and the mechanical stability of a flexible LCD is achieved, and the lower microgrooves induce the spontaneous alignment of the LC molecules on an elastomer substrate.
