Ethanol is known as an efficient permeation enhancer for drugs. However, due to the modulation effect of ethanol on lipid bilayers, it has been commonly believed that vesicles cannot coexist with a high concentration of ethanol, and therefore, ethanol has been known to be incorporated only in relatively low concentrations in liposomal formulations. The ethosomal system enhanced the skin permeation of natural plant extract complex in comparison to conventional liposomal systems. In-vivo test with C57/BL6 Mice showed that ethosomal system have a much better hair-growing effect than conventional liposomal systems. |
