Characterization of Graphene Oxide/Nanofibrillated Cellulose composite fiber fabricated using liquid crystalline spinning |

Graphene Oxide (GO) have been announced as the highly-anticipated materials due to high thermal and electrical conductivity after thermal or chemical reduction process. To apply to a variety of industrial application, GO spun by liquid crystal spinning. Liquid crystal spinning represents good alignment of fiber when GO appear liquid crystalline phase and high solubility. Nevertheless, GO can’t be stacked layer-by-layer because of structural hindrance between functional groups of GOs, so GO fiber has been showed much lower properties than GO’s own properties. We try to add one-dimensional materials to get highly packed composite fiber which can show wonderful performance. Nanofibrillated cellulose (NFC) is the answer that have lots of hydroxyl group and liquid crystalline phase. Herein, we have synthesized both GO and NFC mixed uniformly and fabricated GO/NFC composite fiber using liquid crystal spinning. We characterized the effect of NFC on both solution and fiber forms. |
