제목 Study of Anti-biofilm Activities and Mechanisms of Copper Nanoparticles-Multi-walled Carbon Nanotubes integrated Nanostructures against Common Bacteria
초록 Biofilms are any group of microorganisms of bacterial cells attached to the surface to self-produce extracellular polymeric materials and protect themselves from external stress by using produced extracellular polymeric materials. These biofilms are especially present in places of humidity such as shower rooms or heat exchangers in air conditioners and vehicles, or difficult to clean areas. Also, these biofilms have a foul odor and cause chronic infectious diseases in animals and humans. Generally, chemical or antibiotic chemical compounds are used to remove biofilm and harmful bacteria, but biofilms interfere with the contact between bacteria and antibiotics to counteract antibacterial activity. Socially serious problems concerning biofilm formation and their toxicity, along with antibiotic resistance, demonstrate the need for novel material developments for the effective extermination of bacterial biofilms.
In this study, MWCNTs were treated with a mixture of acids and then decorated with Cu NPs via a chemical reduction of Cu cations by NaBH4.
