Preparation and characterization of UV/heat dual-curable sealant for liquid crystal device using a photoreactive silane coupling agent |

Recently, many efforts have been dedicated to improve the device performance in liquid crystal (LC) display. In particular, the LC device of the 3D or tiled display needs narrow bezel design for seamless characteristics. However, this design might result in poor adhesion, high moisture permeability, and increased LC contamination of LC sealant materials. Among sealant components, the silane coupling agent plays an important role in adhesion between organic resin and inorganic substrate. In the present work, we prepared highly adhesive UV/heat dual-curable sealants for narrow bezel LC display using a photoreactive silane coupling agent. Adhesive strength, moisture permeability, and LC contamination level of the newly prepared UV/heat dual-curable adhesive were examined by comparing with the adhesive containing conventional silane coupling agent. As a result, we have derived the highly adhesive LCD sealant for narrow bezel applications. |
