In this study, we analyzed the changes of hardness both the ingredients of the Fatty acids and addition quantity of NaOH. After the saponification, the manufactured soaps are made of Coconut oil, Palm oil, Castor oil, Hemp seed and Olive oil put into DW and measured the changes of hardness by a Hardness tester with the passage of time. As a result, the coconut soap and the palm soap are shown the high hardness where the oils contain the Lauric acid (CH3(CH2)10COOH) and Palmitic acid (CH3(CH2)14COOH) which saturated fatty acids decide the hardness of soaps. And also we checked the castor soap, contained Ricinoleic acid (C18H34O3), that is shown the lowest hardness. We selected the coconut soap which has highest hardness and changed amount of NaOH during the saponification reaction. The result of the measurement, we confirmed the hardness of the soap was decided by amount of NaOH and kinds of fatty acids which compose natural oils. |
