제목 Fabrication of SnO2 hollow spheres by using polystyrene sphere templates  and their gas sensing properties
초록  Hollow-sphere is a promising candidate nanostructure for high-performance gas sensors because of its high potential for encapsulation of large quantities of gas molecules within the empty core domain. We present a facile preparation method for SnO2 hollow spheres using polystyrene (PS) spheres as template. The new feature in the fabrication is to employ sputter deposited Sn metal layer, instead of conventional chemical syntheses, on the PS sphere template followed by calcination process at elevated temperatures to remove the template cores. The SnO2 hollow spheres are characterized by transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction. The sensing properties to NO gas are examined with varying gas concentration, operating temperature, calcinations temperature, and SnO2 thickness. A sensitivity (S=0.6) at a extremely low concentration (10ppb) of NO gas is measured at operating temperature 150℃ for a sample with Sn metal layer of 30 sec sputtering, calcination at 600℃ for 3 hr. These results imply that SnO2 hollow spheres can be a good material structure for high sensitivity gas sensors.
