Thermally rearranged (TR) polymer have shown extraordinary transport properties because of their nanoporous microcavities during rearrangement from precursor in solid state. On the other hand, polymeric intrinsic microporosity(PIM) have attracted attention due to its high surface area and high porosity with chain rigidity. In this study, TR-polybenzoxazole membranes with spirobisindane moiety (spiroTR-PBO) was prepared from hydroxyl polyimide containing spirobisindane (spiroHPI). High mechanical properties of spiroHPI and spiroTR-PBO were confirmed. Physical properties of spiroHPIs and spiroTR-PBOs were characterized with TGA, XRD, BET, and factional free volume analysis and, gas solubility analysis. Transport properties measured by time-lag method for H2, He, O2, N2, CO2, and CH4. SprioTR-PBO showed higher gas permeability than TR-aPBO with transport tendency similar to PIM but excellent mechanical properties. |
