To enhance interfacial adhesion in epoxy resin, carbon fibers are ground to powder form and followed by direct oxyfluorination (O2 : F2 = 3:7, 5:5, 7:3). Functional groups in surface of treated carbon fiber powder (CFP) are investigated by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). After oxyfluorination, a variety of oxygen and fluorine functional groups are modified on surface of carbon fiber powder such as C-O, C=O and C-F. Prepared CFP and CNT are mixed with epoxy resin to fabricate reinforced epoxy composites. The mechanical properties of these composites are evaluated by tensile test and impact test. Thermal property of these composites are also investigated by Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). Fracture surface of fabricated epoxy composite are observed by Scanning electron microscope (SEM). |
